Class Descriptions

Pre-School:  Introduction to both movement and rhythm in a fun, nuturing environment.  This class is designed for the 3 and 4 year olds to establish a sense of rhythm, build better coordination, establish right and left directionality, and improve gross motor skills.

Pre-Ballet:  Introduction to the basics of ballet technique.  This class will develop poise, flexibility, coordination, grace and imagination.

Ballet:  Follows recommended pedagogues based on Russian and British classical techniques.  This class is structured on progressions in barre, center floor adagio, turns. leaps and jumps.

Tap: Taught in traditional Broadway and rhythmic styles.  Focus is on sound clarity, precision and rhythm patterns.  Dancers will also establish listening skills, rhythm, timing and stage performance.

Jazz:  This class concentrates on proper body alignment, flexibilty and extensions.  Intermediate and advanced classes depend on ballet technique and include vaious jumps, leaps and turns incorporated into the choreography.  Dancers will achieve clean body lines, balance and coordination.

Hip Hop:  Focusing on the popular, urban, youth culture style of dance, originating on the street.  A more isolated style of dance with sharp accents and lots of style.  Featuring high energy and popular music. 

Lyrical Jazz:  Balance, body alignment and muscle memory will be explored to express lyrical qualities of movement.  Dancers will develop strength and flexibility while acquiring solid dance technique. Must have previous training in ballet and/or jazz.  This choreography challenges dancers to explore their personal artistry through expressive movement.

Musical Theatre Jazz:  A combination of acting, singing and dancing.  Students will learn basic acting skills, while also learning to vocalize and dance.  This class is designed to assist students who want to perform in muscials and plays.  Added benefits involve learning about staging, various styles of choreography and character development.

Body Conditioning:  Originally designed for dancers to prevent injury and lengthen the muscles.  This class focuses on controlled breathing to increase flexibility and strengthen the total body.  Includes a series of controlled movements engaging body and mind.  Giving you more coordination, better posture, and will promote longer, leaner muscles.  This course is based upon stretch, balance, strength, concentration, grace and breath.
